Summary
Local health departments faced challenges building organilzational and staff capacity to respond to the increasing threat of infectious diseases, particularly healthcare-associated and antibiotic-resistant infections.
With support from the National Association of County and City Health Officials, we:
Conducted a comprehensive landscape assessment of HAI/AR resources
Gathered feedback on training needs from local health departments through several channels
Created a domain and competency framework for building capacity, along with practical, customizable steps
Curated links to relevant tools and training materials
Created a user-friendly workbook format that works for both new and experienced public health professionals.
